Textual Analysis-Website

This is the official webpage of Bob Sinclair (www.bobsinclar.com/) Bob Sinclar (born Christophe Le Friant, 10 May 1969), is a French record producer, house music DJ, remixer, and the owner of the label Yellow Productions. He is known for popularizing the "French touch" of house music with heavy use of sampled and filtered disco strings. He describes his musical style as inspired by "peace, love, and house-music". Several of Sinclar's songs have became international hits, being particularly popular in Europe. Some of his most popular hits include "Love Generation" and "World, Hold On" (with Steve Edwards). It is important to understand in what market the artist operates, before analyzing the actual website. As bob Sinclair operates in House Music, it would certainly play an impact on the image, color and general layout of the home page.  The home pages, covers the name and preview of the new album, links to the social networks, link to the iTunes and mid- close up of the artist. The proportion of text to image, make the website to be seen more interesting and powerful, as the artist that is already well established all-around the world, does not need much promotion to gain awareness. Same font is being used through out, however, size fonts is difference, due to the new album being released. By clicking on the preview button, the audience would be able to get a feel bout each of the tracks, and whether they would enjoy listening to the album as a whole. If so, the album could be purchased through iTunes. On the bottom right hand corner, there are two links – twitter and facebook. If there are any questions being raised about the new album, the artist could be contacted straight away. On the left hand side, there is a mid-close image of Bob Sinclair, who is standing whilst looking up. The location, which was used for the photo shoot, is Ibiza, which is the ‘capital’ for House Music. However, the selling point is the use of wide range of colors. The page is very colorful, creating a positive and energetic mood. Use of yellow, red and pink certainly outlines what House Music is about- having fun with your friends, and building relationships with new people.

Below are some key aspects that I consider including on my website page
  • links to the social website- twitter, facebook and instagram
  • pre-view of tracks
  • concentrating on the image rather than the text. A lot of free space generally outlines the class of the artist
  • link to iTunes

  • Instead of using one images, a slideshow from the photoshoot could be used instead.
  • Booking contact
  • On Tour dates- where would the artist appear next. This would include date, location and the time when the even is going to happen
  • More links to the videos
  • Include other social platforms- Vkontakte and Vimeo.
